No matter what circumstances you’re facing right now in your life, you can always choose to be happy.
It might be true that you’re facing a rough time right now and it is precisely this reason that you should choose to feel happy. Because being happy uplifts your spirits – it creates more energy for you in your life and it also brightens the days of those whom you truly care about. Being happy also strengthens your faith. And faith always lights up a path for you towards overcoming the obstacles you’re currently facing.
You and I probably know a great deal of people who are often disgruntled about their lives, whining and complaining about how unfairly their life has been manhandled by the hands of fate. While their complaints may be accurate to a certain extent, it certainly isn’t useful. All that merely does is to trap them in the downward spiral of negativity. It just keeps them leading a life of mediocrity, unkept promises and unfulfilled dreams. And you don’t want that to be your life story, do you?
To choose to be happy, you need to have the attitude of gratitude. Be grateful for the little things you don’t notice and often take for granted. The fact that you can read. The fact that you have the ability to comprehend this writing. The fact that you’re living in this moment right now and having the opportunity, if you’d choose to, to better your life and the lives of those whom you truly care about. Quieten your heart and earnestly observe your life and you will see the blessings that you have so often overlooked.
Happiness is not just something you get when you win the lottery – because that doesn’t last. There will always be things that doesn’t go the way you want it to in life. Like success, happiness is not a destination, it is a journey. Happiness is a choice at every single moment you’re breathing in and out.
Be happy and grateful everyday! Smile.
“The most wasted of all days is one without laughter.” E. E. Cummings
